04.07.2010 * Post-Operative Day 1

Just to keep the humans guessing, I slept on the couch in the living room instead of on the dog bed in the bedroom. The only downside was that there was no pillow for me to put my tooth under; hence the fairy dogmother was a no-show. I'm going to see if I can get through to Robert that I need a pillow. I had chicken soup again this morning with rice and vegetables, cottage cheese hiding that yucky green pill (I spit it out - WTF, do they think I"m stupid just because I landed in jail?). I know Robert then buried it in a melted cheese ball and I was able to get it down without gagging. I'll let you know what other tactics he comes up with. I am pretty tolerant of the ear drops I need in both ears two times a day (for a mild yeast infection - hey, I thought only bitches got those). My dissolvable sutures are not bothering me and I have made no attempt to mess with them. I spent most of the morning watching Robert do my Vizsla roomies nails and put stuff in their eyes. Robert hasn't tried to get funny with my nails but he has tried lurking and sneaking around trying to take my picture. Luckily my hearing is very good and when I hear the camera lens move as it tries to autofocus, I am out of there. I mean, is there no privacy? What if they don't know that I might be in doggy witness protection? Things could get dicey... The cute young vizsla girl here likes to bark at the horses and I have decided it looks like fun so I join in; makes me feel powerful to make those big furry grass eaters run from me in panic! I like to lay on the deck in the sun after it has passed overhead; it is warm and relaxing and I don't overheat. One shortcoming of this place is that it has no pool; I mean, geez, I am part Lab! I did not get to go out into the horse pasture this morning with the others. I think it may have something to do with rolling in that big pile of fresh horse manure last evening.... The vet called this morning to check on me and I overheard Robert saying I was doing well and that he was going to start me on soft canned wet dog food tonight; I am looking forward to that. Don't know what activities the human has planned for tonight. Last eve we watched a documentary on the final repair of the Hubbell space telescope by a shuttle mission. Space, smace...we dogs went into orbit way back in the 50's (or was it the 60's) so it is pretty old hat to us. I scored big on dinner tonight...a full can of Taste of the Wild canned food...wow, it was good! Might have to give this place 4 or 5 Michelin stars after all, pool or no pool...I fell for the old green antibiotic pill in the warm soft cheeseball again tonight...but it went down so smoothly that I could hardly complain. I am getting really accustomed to the place...I even gave the human, Robert, a kiss earlier this evening...I think I am falling in love...
