Last evening I spent most of the night on my favorite end of the couch. Around 5:00am I decided to check out what Robert and one of the vizslas were up to so I crawled in bed with them for an hour or so. We all got up at 6:30 and Robert made breakfast; I must say someone has trained him well. After breakfast we all went back to bed for a while. When we arose again it was the daily ritual of pills and medications. I actually like the 4-cheese cheeseball Robert hides the antibiotic capsule in; it goes down so smoothly. I got my ears flushed this morning ad they were very free of any debris so the medication must be working. I moan and "hum" while my ears are massaged; it feels good! I only have a couple more days (until the 13th) of ear medication. I am really enjoying my meals; after the rice and ground chicken were gone Robert cooked up a huge batch of ground beef and rice. The food service here is extraordinary! I am still on my toes with respect to having my picture taken. I get to go in the horse pasture with the other vizslas twice a day and enjoying running and exploring all the new smells. I guess that not rolling in horse manure has its rewards. Since my coat is much thicker and longer than a normal vizsla's the dirt and mud does not come off as easily or as quickly. After running in the pasture the first thing I like to do is go jump and roll on the bed. In no time at all I can turn those nice sage green sheets a rich, warm brown. That must explain why I now get wiped down before coming into the house after a pasture run.
I got to go to the local hardware store today to help shop for plumbing parts. I noticed Robert has installed a professional hand spray in his shower. I think it somehow must be related to bathing me, or the others. The first thing I did upon arriving at the hardware store was to bark at some kid wearing a hooded sweatshirt; no gang bangers for me! The store was neat and there were lots of people. We didn't spend much time there for fear that someone might report us to the animal control people since I am still VERY skinny. The cashier offered to give me a cookie but Robert told them that due to my tooth extraction I was still on a soft diet. Robert did however scrounge up some "soft" dog treats for me and that was well appreciated.
When the other human, Nancy, showed up tonight she had a real surprise; another rescue vizsla. His name is Rothko and he is 8 years old and VERY active. We get along well and I am teaching him the ropes. I told Robert he needs his own blog, so we will see. Rothko brought his own BIG circular dog bed with him and I enjoy laying on it when he isn't (he'd rather chase anything Robert or Nancy throws for him). With six of us here now there is never a dull moment. Mostly I just love to hang around the humans, or lie on the bed or the couch or a dog bed; for that matter, anywhere I feel like!
Some other humans were supposed to come visit me on Saturday, but I heard Nancy tell Robert that something had come up (like what could possibly be more important than visiting me?) and that their visit was postponed until next Sunday, the 18th. Where are their priorities?
At the end of the day I must say I am VERY comfortable here. Each day seems to bring a new positive adventure and I hope that I will never have to look forward with trepidation.....

Oh, darling, it's just that have to earn a living thing that kept us away from you. We'll see you soon. Thinking about you helps ease the pain of having lost our Sunny on Tuesday.

Filling the void left by the loss of a cherished one is a big responsibility. I hope I am up to it.
